ADMISSION IN TO INSTITUTE OF BIORESOURCES AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT (IBSD).
Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) invites application from post graduate candidates for admission to the PhD Programme in Biological Sciences Starting from January 2011. IBSD is an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India with excellent research facilities for sustainable development of bioresources using tools of modern biology. Broad area of research at the institute is Plant Bioresources and Microbial Bioresources. Selected candidates shall be eligible for the monthly stipend and annual contingency grant which will be higher than that of normal fellowship programmes.
PhD Programmes: Admission to the PhD Programme shall be done in the month of December 2010. The Programme will start on 1st week of January. Candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC NET/DBT-JRF/ICMR-JRF/ICAR-JRF examination are eligible for direct interview.
Eligibility:
1. Candidates shall be eligible for registration in an ongoing programme of research in IBSD leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), if he/she has obtained 55% marks in aggregate (B or B+ only in the 10 point scale) in the Master’s Degree Examination.
2. A candidate belonging to SC/ST who has obtained 50% marks in aggregate in Master Degree examination shall be eligible for registration.
Selection Procedure:
1. If numbers of CSIR-UGC NET/DBT-JRF/ICMR-JRF/ICAR-JRF qualified applicants are more than the available PhD Positions, Selection will be based on only interview with the NET/JRF qualified candidates.
2. In case sufficient NET/JRF qualified applicants are not available, shortlisted candidates (Without NET/JRF but good academic records) may be called to appear for a written entrance test on 9th December 2010 at IBSD, at their own expenses.
3. Institute’s written test qualified and or NET/JRF qualified candidates shall be informed on same day to appear for an interview on 10th December 2010 at IBSD, Imphal.
4. Selected candidates will be informed to join the PhD Programme of IBSD within a week time from the date of announcement of result.
5. Candidates are requested to refer to the institute’s website (www.ibsd.gov.in) for Application Form and PhD Notifications.

1. Application should be typed on A4-size plain paper in the prescribed format. Applications sent by e-mail with scan copy of required enclosures will also be accepted and such application should be sent following email address: ibsd_imp@bsnl.in.
