Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) envisions the integration of Space Technology and Space Science educational programs with basic and applied research for meeting the national R&D requirements of science and technology in general and of the Indian Space Programme in particular. The institute provides a vibrant research atmosphere and offers doctoral and postdoctoral Programmes.

Applications are invited from highly motivated candidates for admission to the Ph.D Programme starting in July 2011, under IIST Fellowship (Fellowship of $16,000/--or $18,000/- per month), in the areas of Geology (Petrology), English and Social Sciences.
Eligibility: * Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree in the relevant area with first class or equivalent. Candidates with Master’s Degree in basic science subjects and Humanities must be NET qualified (JRF) to be considered for the Ph.D programme.*Age Limit as on 04.07.2011: 28 years. Age relaxation applicable as per Govt. of India Rules. * Nationality: Applicant should be an Indian citizen.*

Fellowship: The Scholars selected for IIST Ph.D Programme will be initially given a fellowship of $ 16,000/- or $18,000/- per month for the first two years based on the qualifications. The fellowship will be enhanced to $18,000/- or $20,000/- respectively after two years based on progress review. The scholars will be required to assist the Departments in academic activites as and when required.
