Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) New Delhi and the cluster office of the united Nations Educational, Scientific and cultural Organizations (UNESCO), New Delhi are co-sponsoring a Science Olympiad for Science Students Currently enrolled in India’s 11th Standard / class or Equivalent in South Asian Countries India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri-Lanka. All Students who have scored a minimum of 60% average in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the terminal examination of the 10th Standard / Class or equivalent grade are eligible to participate.
They should register for participation in this Olympiad along with a recent Photograph on their application form, a certification for having obtained a minimum of 60% average in the science subjects of their 10th standard /class examination grade and a token fee of Indian Rs.100 (One hundred only). This registration fee is only for Indian students.
Online registration can be done in a proforma found in the website of IGNOU and UNESCO. School Principals / authorities are requested to promote the Participation of all bright students and forward the registration from their respective schools along with a demand draft in favour of IGNOU, New Delhi / credit card authorization. Successful participants will receive certificates of merit, medals, cash prizes and awards. Top 1000 participants will be given IGNOU UNESCO accredited merit certificates. DR. D.C. PAVATE MEMORIAL FELLOWSHIPS, IN CAMBRIDGE, 2012., KARNATAKA UNIVERSITY, DHARWAD.
The Dr. D.C. Pavate Foundation in collaboration with Karnataka University, Dharwad and Sidney
Sussex College, Cambridge offer three visiting fellowships annually for a period of four months to be held at the Centre of International Studies / Department of Politics and International Studies, Judge Business School and the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics / Department of Material Sciences and Metallurgy / Department of Chemistry / Department of Zoology, University of Cambridge.
Candidates below the age of 40 years as on 1st January 2012, who have secured a Ph.D., or a First Class Master Degree or its equivalent, are eligible to apply for following fellowships:
(a). One fellowship at the Centre of International Studies / Department of politics and International Studies, Cambridge, Selected on all India Basic: The Fellowship will be effective from January 2012. Candidates with good academic record in the areas of History, Political Science or International Relations, International Economics, International Law or Military Affairs will be considered.
(b). one fellowship at Judge Business School, Cambridge, Selected from among Karnataka Candidates: This fellowship will be effective from May 2012. Candidates from Karnataka with good academic record and interest in any aspect of Indian business and management will be considered.
(c). one fellowship at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics / Department of Material Sciences and Metallurgy / Department of Chemistry / Department of Zoology, Selected from among Karnataka Candidates: This Fellowship will be effective from September 2012.
Candidates from Karnataka with good academic record in the area of Mathematics and theoretical physics, Material Sciences and metallurgy, Chemistry and Zoology will be considered. The Selection and award is subject to the Department concerned identifying a host research group accepting the Successful candidate. Further information on the research group and / or their faculty members’ research interests can be found on the departmental website of the University of Cambridge.
Karnataka Candidate: (i). Educated for a minimum of 5 years continuously at an educational institution located in Karnataka, or (ii). Employed in Karnataka for a minimum of 5 years continuously.
The fellowship will cover economy class return air fare, stipend of 3500 pounds sterling and 2700 pounds sterling academic charges.
